Terms of Usage

Meow is a proprietary desktop application for making and receiving voice calls over the internet using the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP).

Meow connects to your SIP provider or PBX of choice. We do not provide SIP trunking, phone numbers, or call routing services. The quality and availability of your calls depend on your SIP provider and network connection.

Subject to these terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Meow on the number of devices permitted by your subscription plan:

• Personal - 1 device
• Professional - up to 3 devices
• Enterprise - as specified in your enterprise agreement

Meow offers a 14-day free trial with full functionality. No credit card or payment information is required to start the trial. The trial period begins when the application first connects to our license server.

After the trial period expires, you must purchase a license to continue using Meow. Your settings, contacts, and call history are preserved regardless of license status.

The trial is limited to one per device. Reinstalling the application or resetting local data does not extend or restart the trial period.

Meow checks your license or trial with our license server when it starts and once a day, using signed messages that cannot be forged. If it cannot reach the server for 7 days it shows a warning, and after 14 days it asks you to go online before you can keep calling.

A license works on as many devices as your plan covers. To move it to another computer, remove the old one at meow.qfiber.co.il/license (you sign in with a link we email to your purchase address) or contact support. You can remove up to 3 devices per license in any 30 days yourself. A removed device stops being licensed the next time it checks.

If your computer's clock is set well before the time our server last confirmed your license, Meow treats the license as expired until the clock is corrected. We may revoke a license that is used in breach of these terms.

Licenses are sold on this website. Prices include VAT where it applies. You can get a full refund within 14 days of purchase, as described in our Refund Policy; the license is revoked when it is refunded.

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software
• Copy, redistribute, or sublicense the software
• Modify the software or create derivative works
• Circumvent or tamper with the licensing system
• Use the software for any unlawful purpose, including unauthorized wiretapping or call interception

These restrictions do not apply to the open-source components included in Meow, which are listed with their licences in the app under About > Open-source licences and in the THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt file installed with it. Those components are licensed to you under their own licences, not these terms. Nothing here restricts the rights those licences give you, including, for the libraries under the GNU LGPL, the right to modify them, to replace them with modified versions, and to reverse engineer the software as far as needed to debug such modifications.

Meow is not a replacement for an ordinary phone for emergency calls.

Whether a call to an emergency number (such as 100, 101 or 102 in Israel, 112 in Europe or 911 in North America) gets through depends entirely on your SIP provider or phone system, and many do not route them. Even when they do, the emergency service may not receive your location or a number to call you back on. Meow also cannot place any call without power, an internet connection, a working SIP account and a running computer.

Always keep another way to call for help, such as a mobile or landline phone. qFiber LTD is not responsible for an emergency call that fails, is delayed or reaches the wrong place.

On a mobile phone, Meow offers the phone's own dialer when you dial a number the phone recognises as an emergency number. If you turn off "Ask before emergency numbers", Meow no longer offers it, and such numbers are sent to your phone system as extensions. Use your phone's own dialer for emergency calls: it can reach emergency services without credit and, in most countries, without a SIM card or coverage from your own network. qFiber LTD is not responsible for emergency calls placed, delayed or failed through Meow, or for calls that should have been made with the phone's own dialer.

Meow can record calls, when you press record or automatically if you turn that on. Recordings are saved only on your device.

The law on recording calls differs between countries and regions. Some allow you to record a call you take part in; others require everyone on the call to agree, or require you to tell them first. You are responsible for knowing and following the law that applies to your calls, including telling the other people and getting their consent where that is required. Do not use Meow to record calls you are not part of.

Your calls, contacts, call history, recordings and SIP passwords stay on your device; we never receive them. Calls go directly between Meow and the phone system you configure.

To license Meow we process your license key and a hashed fingerprint of your device. The optional usage heartbeat runs only if you turn it on. Our Privacy Policy explains what we process, why, on which legal basis, how long we keep it, and your rights. It is part of these terms.

Meow connects directly to your SIP provider or PBX. Voice calls are routed between your device and the SIP server you configure; they do not pass through any qFiber infrastructure.

Your use of a SIP service is governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for the practices, availability or charges of your SIP provider.

Meow checks for updates automatically. Updates may include bug fixes, security patches, and new features. We recommend keeping the application up to date.

Updates are downloaded from our servers and verified before they are installed. You can view the update history on our Changelog page.

The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement.

We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Call quality and availability depend on your network connection, SIP provider, and hardware, which are outside our control.

In no event shall qFiber LTD be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, business opportunities, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the software.

Our total liability for any claim related to the software shall not exceed the amount you paid for your license in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights that consumer protection law gives you and that cannot be waived.

You may stop using Meow at any time by uninstalling the application. Your license remains valid until its expiration date regardless of whether the software is installed.

We may terminate your license if you violate these terms, specifically if you attempt to circumvent the licensing system, reverse engineer the software, or redistribute it. In such cases, you must uninstall all copies of the software. The sections on restrictions, warranty, liability and governing law survive termination.

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the software after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and the courts of Israel have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising under them. This does not take away the protection of consumer law in the country where you live that cannot be waived.
