Meow is our SIP softphone, born from years of experience deploying VoIP infrastructure and Cloud PBX systems for our clients. We saw that desktop users had no modern, native softphone option, so we built one ourselves.

Why We Built Meow
Desktop users have always had limited options for SIP softphones. Most VoIP clients are either Electron wrappers consuming hundreds of megabytes of RAM, abandoned projects from the 2010s, or bloated proprietary tools that prioritize features over performance.
As a company that deploys Cloud PBX and VoIP systems daily, we experienced this gap firsthand. Our clients needed a softphone that was modern, lightweight, and just worked - on both Linux and Windows. So we built Meow, a native SIP softphone designed for the desktop from day one.
Written in C++20 with Qt 6, it uses a fraction of the resources of Electron-based alternatives while integrating properly with your desktop: system tray, notifications, audio device hot-plugging, and dark theme support all work the way you'd expect on both Linux and Windows. Under the hood, Meow uses PJSIP for standards-compliant VoIP, with platform-native audio - PulseAudio on Linux and WASAPI on Windows.

Our Approach to Data
Meow is designed to keep your data local. SIP calls go directly between your device and your SIP provider. They never pass through our servers. Your contacts, call history, and SIP credentials are stored in a local SQLite database on your machine.
The only data that leaves your device:
- License validation : your license key and an anonymous hardware fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) are sent to verify your license. No personal information is included.
- Update checks: your app version and OS type are sent to check for available updates.
