A SIP softphone for Windows
Meow is a native SIP client for Windows 10 and 11, written in C++ and Qt 6. It registers to your PBX or SIP provider and handles calls the way a desk phone does, using about 60 MB of application memory.
Headsets that just work
Meow plays and records through the Windows communications device, the one Windows assigns to calls, rather than the default multimedia device. Plug in a headset in the middle of the day and Meow follows it, as it does when the default device changes or one is unplugged. Microphone, call audio and ringing can also be pointed at separate devices.
One installer, silent install for IT
A single installer for 64-bit Windows 10 or later. For rolling Meow out across an office, the installer takes the standard /S silent switch and /D= for the install directory.
Deployment lists paths, per-user data locations and checksums.
Everything a business line needs
Two SIP accounts at once, several numbers per account, hold and swap, blind and attended transfer, three-way conference, call recording, busy lamps for your colleagues, call parking and a voicemail indicator. Opus, G.722 and G.711, over UDP, TCP or TLS, with SRTP when your PBX offers it. Incoming calls bring the window forward with a Windows notification.
Same app on Linux
Offices with a mix of Windows and Linux desks run the same Meow on both, with the same settings and features. See Meow for Linux.
Questions
- Which versions of Windows does Meow run on?
- Windows 10 and later, 64-bit.
- Does it work with FreePBX, Asterisk and hosted SIP providers?
- Yes. Meow is a standard SIP client over UDP, TCP or TLS, so it registers wherever a SIP desk phone would. On FreePBX and Asterisk it also uses busy lamp hints, parking lots and voicemail notifications.
- Can it be installed silently?
- The installer accepts /S for a silent install and /D= to choose the directory.
- Is Meow free?
- Every feature is available in a 14-day trial with no card. After that it needs a paid licence; the pricing page lists the plans.
